Spud the Piper

Spud the Piper

Acrylic and Ink on Paper, 30 x 21 cm, July 2016

This is one of a series of Ink and Acrylic drawings that I did on a recent trip around the U.K. This is a drawing of Spud the Bagpipe player as he was doing his nightly 8 p.m. show outside the Cairngorm Hotel in Aviemore, Scotland. He would stand almost below our room’s window and play for around 30 minutes. It was a very special experience to draw him as he played and it added a really traditional feeling to an already amazing area of the world. I tried to first sketch him in ink and add colour using thinned down Acrylic paint as he played.
