This Oil Pastel on Black Paper drawing was done during a family trip to the beautiful Green Bay area of Taiwan. As I drew this piece “en plein air” my nephew, great niece and great nephew were also drawing together with me. It was a very special experience to have them along side me as I drew.

Surfer’s Paradise
This Oil Pastel on Brown Paper drawing is one of a series of pictures done whilst visiting Queensland, Australia during December 2018. This series was completed at the very beautiful Surfer’s Paradise on the Gold Coast during December 2018. As an Englishman, the Australian Christmas weather has always amazed me because it is Summer and the hottest season, which is very different to an English Christmas! These pictures were done from our room in the 21stFloor of the Mantra on View Hotel, where we were very lucky to have a beautiful elevated view of the coastline and city. I prefer to work outside if I can, but the sun and heat were too strong to allow this, so I worked from indoors. (Finally, after to many cases of heatstroke I am learning!) I like to draw and paint all subjects, but the Ocean is a challenge of its own as it is constantly moving in different ways and the colours are affected by the weather. It is always a fun challenge!
Christmas Day, Surfer’s Paradise
The Acrylic Painting on 300gsm Paper is one of a series of pictures done whilst visiting Queensland, Australia during December 2018.
This painting was done on Christmas Day and I was very impressed by how many people went to the Beach from very early in the morning. Choppy Seas, Yeliou, Green Bay
This Oil Pastel on Black Paper drawing is one of two drawn “en plein air” in the beautiful Green Bay beach resort from the Whitehouse Hotel. They were drawn during our Anniversary trip and I tried to capture the overcast weather and the powerful, choppy waves of the day.
Choppy Seas, Keelung Island, Green Bay

Keelung Island, Green Bay
This Ink on Brown Paper drawing was drawn “en plein air” in the beautiful Green Bay beach resort from the Whitehouse Hotel. It is a view of Keelung Island that became very clear and visible for a short period during our visit as the stormy weather passed by. This picture was drawn during our Anniversary trip and I tried to capture the shapes, shades and contours of the rugged island while I could see it! As I drew, the overcast weather and dark clouds increased and I decided to include them because I liked the dark threatening tones as the clouds prepared to burst.
