For this piece, which is the third in the series, I wanted to use colours associated with the Liverpool F.C. kit. Red, yellow and green have been used in many combinations over the years in kit designs. I also wanted to add some drips and runs of paint to change the aesthetic of the piece.

This Acrylic on Canvas piece was made for an exhibition called “Red” at the Redroom in Taipei City, Taiwan. It is inspired by the passion and love shown by the supporters of my hometown football club Liverpool FC. It is a subject that I have wanted to capture for a while and this gave me the perfect chance to do so.

Just before the start and end of each game supporters will raise scarves and flags and join together to sing the club anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone.” It’s always a very moving experience and even after hearing it 1000’s of times it still gives me goosebumps and stirs emotions. It is a great show of unity, support and passion and is our way of trying to lift our team and help them perform at their highest level. The supporters become the “Twelfth Man” adding an extra dimension to the team.
